Grizedale

The forest of Grizedale is a well-established art in the environment centre, which has been commissioning artists for the past 25 years. There are currently over 90 sculptures to be seen. Grizedale has up to 10 artists in residence every year so there are always new works in progress.

Grizedale is situated in the heart of the Lake District and is bordered by Coniston Water to the west and Windermere to the east. The forest is made up of semi-natural deciduous woodland and soft wood plantations. There are over 50 miles of tracks for walkers, mountain bikers and natural history enthusiasts. The 6,000 acres includes a wide range of terrain and is home to deer, red squirrels and many woodland birds. The forest is managed by the Forestry Commission who are able to give more information on using the forest.
